Study of Airborne THz ViSAR

Airborne THz ViSAR has an imaging frame rate of more than 5Hz with no aperture overlap, which gives the airborne THz ViSAR both advantages of high imaging speed of optical sensor and superior environmental adaptability of microwave radar. This paper introduced the study progress of airborne THz ViSAR, which adopts architectures with one transmitter and four receivers, which endowed the radar with multiple functions, including video synthetic aperture radar (ViSAR), ground motive target indicator (GMTI) and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). The experiments showed that taking advantages of high imaging frame rate, moving targets can still create clear shadows on the ground. So, the airborne THz ViSAR could detect and track targets by exploiting their shadows, which is effective for all moving targets regardless of their RCS.
