Design of UWB antenna based on CSRR and EBG notch for prevention of undesired band

A compact Ultra-wideband (UBW) antenna with notch is proposed in this this article. The flower-shaped UBW antenna is designed with partial ground where impedance matching is amended by rectangular slots in the ground plane. The UWB antenna achieved 10 dB bandwidth from 3.60 GHz to 13.20 GHz without notches. The Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) and Electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) are used to prevent narrowband interference and creating two notches. The CSRR slot in the radiator and EBG is used to achieve notch bandwidth from 4.90-5.60 GHz and 6.0-6.70 GHz. The three-layer wrist phantom model is analyzed to obtain the Specific Absorption Ratio (SAR) at 5.8 GHz (ISM Band). The obtained SAR is in the permissible limit and the proposed antenna can be used in biomedical, 5G, and UBW applications.
