Research on the decision of pricing and booking of strategic shippers under the advance booking mode

In the context of liner shipping, the paper considers the advance booking with part payment called deposit and the shipper's strategic behavior, and obtains the corresponding optimal advance price and booking quantity by constructing a revenue model under two-stage advance booking strategy. In addition, numerical examples are given to carry out further analysis, and obtain the influence of each parameter on the optimal decision. The results show that the two-stage booking price is not always lower than the spot price. With the increase of the deposit impact factor, the booking quantity during the spot stage increases. The advance price and booking quantity both decrease with the increase of the competition factor, and increase with the increase of the spot price.
