Wattmeter Cards Analysis of Oil-Producing Pumps Electric Drives

A significant part of oil production wells is operated by sucker rod pump units. Low-speed asynchronous electric motors with increased starting torque are used as drives for well sucker rod pumps. Balancing sucker rod pumping units allows for smoother loading and reduced power consumption. The authors investigated the balance of well pumping units. The impact of balancing on electricity consumption has been assessed. The following research methods were used: statistical analysis of wattmeter cards; mathematical methods for analyzing wattmeter cards with determining the average value of power consumption, the coefficient of imbalance, and the potential for energy saving. As a result, it was found that 2% of well pumping units are balanced. At the same time, 35% of well pumping units have an unbalance coefficient worse than 0.5. The negative effect of insufficient balancing of sucker rod pump units on electricity consumption is shown. As a result of balancing, the energy consumption of well pump drives can be reduced by 5-20% while maintaining production volumes.
