The Logic Equations and Software System to Determine the Practicability of Overhauling or Upgrading the Induction Motor

This paper solves the problem of automated decision-making on the quality of stator steel of an induction motor that needs to be overhauled or upgraded. There are three categories of stator steel quality: good steel, satisfactory steel, and low-quality steel. The authors have developed a procedure as well as a hardware and software system to examine the quality of stator steels of malfunctioning induction motors to be overhauled or upgraded at electrical repair facilities. The logic equations determining the quality categories of stator steel have been derived. There have been determined the main criteria defining steel quality: values of the effective current value (I
μ
) and magnetizing power - active power loss in stator steel (P
c1
), obtained as a result of automatic processing of the registered signals and measured by ammeter and wattmeter. There have been also defined additional criteria for assessing the condition of stator steel, derived from automatic processing of voltage and magnetizing current oscillograms signals. There has been developed a hardware and software system that implements the methodology of instrumental examination of stator steel of an induction motor to be overhauled or upgraded. The R&D product is recommended for experts of electrical repair and electric machine building companies.
