Link Failure Anticipation in Urban VANET Routing

VANET represent an important field of Intelligent Transport System which is one of the most attractive research area. VANET is a subclass of MANET with some specific characteristics. To exchange data within VANET a routing protocol creates and maintains route between nodes. However, due to their high topology change, the established routes between nodes fail and data is lost. For that, VANET need efficient and accurate routing protocol that can handle route failure before it occurs. This paper proposes an improved AODV routing protocol in V2V communication considering a realistic urban traffic scenario and real-world trajectory data. The proposed routing protocol anticipate route failure by using a Lagrangian’s interpolation. The simulation results of the proposed approach indicates that it can achieve better performance in terms of packet loss, routing overhead, end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio.
