Metamaterial Decoupling MIMO Antennas for 5G Communication

In this work, a simple MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) antenna with a partial ground plane is proposed for the band 3.4-3.8 GHz. Due to the placement of the antennas close to each other, a mutual coupling is obtained which induces changes in the intrinsic parameters of the antennas. It is therefore necessary to increase the isolation level between the antennas to have an efficient MIMO system operation. The insertion of 3 SRRs (Split Ring Resonator) cells between the two antennas is in order to reduce this mutual coupling between the antennas.
