Power Distribution Network Management based on Edge Computing

In order to address the issues of enormous devices connection and rapid changing requirements of power distribution network management, the edge computing technical strategy is proposed to promote the demand identification and operation optimization based on data-driven decision making. Firstly, the review of edge computing development is presented. According to the service requirement, the reference architecture of power distribution network based on edge computing is presented including three layers defined as EC-IaaS, EC-PaaS and EC-SaaS. The collaboration of edge computing and cloud computing is proposed in aspects of network, storage, data, Apps and intelligent algorithms, aiming to unleash greater value in distribution network management. Finally, some typical use cases are provided to demonstrate the requirements and benefits of edge-cloud computing model.
