Far-field Aerial Image Presentation of One Point by a Laser Source using Beam Scanning by Two-axis Galvanometer Mirror

In recent years, aerial image displays have been actively studied as an epoch-making presentation technology for stereoscopic images. However, their optical systems are intended for near-field presentation, and distant aerial image displays that can be viewed naturally have not yet been developed. The aim of this study is to present an aerial image at a distance by scanning a laser beam. First, an optical system, comprising a two-axis galvanometer mirror and a camera that tracks a pupil of a distant user, is proposed. Then, an aerial image of a single point is presented; subsequently, controlling and calibrating algorithms are introduced. In addition to evaluating the performance of the proposed system, the appearance of the laser light beam from a distance based on the incident vector to the evaluation camera is confirmed.
