Wind Speed Retrieval Algorithm for Ku-Band Radar Onboard GPM Satellite

The algorithm to retrieve wind speed in a wide swath from normalized radar cross section (NRCS) is developed for the data of Ku-band radar operating in scanning mode installed onboard the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite. Wind speed is retrieved within a wide swath and with high resolution. The algorithm is based on wind speed retrieval for satellite altimetry. The sea buoys data are used to obtain the dependence between NRCS and the wind speed.
