Application of Millman's Theorem for Unsymmetrical Fault Diagnosis of Six Phase Electric Network

Appeasement of the increasing demand of electricity, six phase Electric system gives an alternative solution in addition to its several advantages like less corona loss, reduced phase voltage, declined magnetic field etc. Six phase system is capable to increase the capacity of electric power by 1.732 times of the existing three phase system. In this paper, the authors apply Millmans theorem for analysis the six phase electric network during different unsymmetrical fault conditions like line to ground fault, line to line fault. In this present contribution, unsymmetrical fault analysis by using existing well known Symmetrical component method is avoided and is applied simple Millmans theorem to reduce the complexity of fault analysis. For validation of proposed system, a MATLAB/ Simulink based six phase network is developed and for different fault conditions, simulated output is compared with calculated output from Millmans theorem. And from result, it is obviously stated that fault level calculation with Millmans theorem based approach are broadly comparable to those produced using symmetric component methods.
