Research on stator structure optimization design of the RVDT

Featuring high sensitivity, good linearity and compact structure, rotary variable differential transformer (RVDT) is widely used in automatic control systems in aerospace such as the aircraft nose-wheel steering system, the rudder control system and the inlet control system. In the RVDT design process, both the uniformity of the internal magnetic field and the rationality of structural process shall be addressed to optimize the structural parameters on the precondition of meeting performance requirements. This paper selects a typical RVDT structure as the research subject, and identifies that the selection of the slot width of the stator core is key to improve process rationality and manufacturing efficiency. A structure optimization scheme is put forward by simulation based on different structural parameters and verified by tests. This optimized structure greatly improves the manufacturing efficiency, and the research findings can be applied to the development of redundant RVDT, which provides strong support for accelerating R&D of such products
