Design, Analysis and Simulation of AC-DC Converters with Python

This paper presents an approach that can be very useful for the design, analysis, and simulation of AC-DC converters. The equations used for design purposes should allow the calculation of the parameters of the components that make up these converters with a high safety margin, since these components are normally subjected to a high level of electrical stress. On the other hand, as these components have a shorter life span, when compared to the rest of the system, their parameters, in the design context, must be oversized. However, regarding the analysis, the equations that allow the description of their main characteristics must be much more precise. Therefore, the equations used in the project should not be used for analysis purposes. Thus, some recommendations will be presented regarding the use of both equations. On the other hand, the choice of oversized elements can lead to other problems, particularly in the case of capacitors. This issue will be discussed in this paper, and some solutions to this problem will be presented. The recommendations and conclusions presented in this paper were obtained by taking into account several simulation results performed in Python programming language and for that purpose, it was necessary to create several Python scripts.
