The Effect of Administration Fig Leaf Tea to Reduce Blood Glucose Levels In Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Diabetes Mellitus occurs because the level of glucose in the blood is too high so the body cannot use insulin properly. Pharmacological treatment is done by taking an medicine. One of alternative is the utilization of fig leaf that can lower the glucose in blood. This research aims to know the effect of fig leaf tea to decrease blood glucose level and to know the comparison between intervention and control group in the effectivity of decreasing the blood glucose level. Type of this research is quasi-experimental. Pre and post-test was done with control group design. There are 40 samples with purposive sampling method. According to the statistic result with Wilcoxon test, there is a difference of blood glucose level before and after respondents consume the fig leaf tea with p=0.000. Statistical result of Mann-Whitney test showed a difference of decreased blood glucose level in the intervention and control group with p=0.012. The conclusion of this research is fig leaf tea has an effect to decrease blood glucose level, and there are significant difference between intervention group whom consume fig leaf tea and control group whom consume antidiabetic medicine.
