Design of Compact Coplanar Waveguide Feed Inverted - P Antenna for Biomedical Implants

A microstrip inverted P-tract antenna with coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed has been designed and investigated at industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band (2.4–2.48 GHz) for implantable devices. A pattern execution includes a test-bed within a phantom that typically resembles a human body is introduced. Return loss, VSWR, and radiation patterns are measured for the proposed design. The performance of the suggested antenna design is tested in two different phantom environments: Single-layer (muscle) phantom and multilayer (skin, fat, and muscle) phantom. ) The suggested antenna is designed with Rogers 3010 substrate of 1mm thickness with the dielectric permittivity value of 10.2. The suggested antenna has a peak gain of −20.4 dBi at 2.4 GHz, well suited for implantable applications. The SAR is 13.8 mW/kg for 1 g of tissue.
