Analysis of Rural Residents’ Demand for Health Information and Its Influencing Factors

Purpose: To understand the demand and influencing factors of medical information services for rural residents. Methods: Questionnaire was used to investigate the health information demand of rural residents, the degree and its influencing factors. Results: 41.36 percent of farmers need health information frequently, while the other 58.6 percent occasionally and rarely need it; whether their work or study are related to medicine and “whether residents inquire about health information actively” are the main factors to the degree of information demand. Conclusion: Medical and health practitioners should strengthen the publicity and education of health knowledge, improve the awareness of disease prevention and proactive health information query of rural residents, thus to increase their awareness of health information and promote the change of unhealthy behaviors.
