Compact and Dual-Band Antenna for Smartwatch Application

In this work, a compact antennas is designd for smartwatch application, which covers both the LTE700/GSM850/GSM900 band and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth band. The antenna is inspired by the SRR structure, and it is composed of an inner loop and an outer loop, with capacitive structures built for impedance matching. When placed on a wrist, the antenna covers a relative bandwidth of 39.95% and 21.08%, respectively, for the center frequency of 850 MHz and 2.4 GHz. The peak SAR in the tissue is below the limitation when the antenna is placed on the wrist. The proposed antenna can support independence cellular communictions and is suitable for smartwatch.
