Design of Wideband Voltage Controlled Oscillator with Suspended Stripline Structure

Voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is the core basic device of RF and microwave circuit. Its performance determines the performance of the whole system. Microstrip planar oscillators are more and more popular in communication systems because of low cost, small size and easy integration. However, the low Q value of microstrip planar oscillators makes it difficult to achieve low phase noise. The suspended stripline is a kind of planar and closed structure, which has the advantages of low transmission loss, high Q value and simple structure. It is compatible with the current circuit board and easy to process. In this paper, a 2.9GHz~5.4GHz VCO is designed with a suspended stripline structure.
