DSC-based Generalized Predictive Control Algorithm for an Indirect Field-Oriented Induction Motor Drive by using FIR filters Approach

Over the last decades, costs of implementing digital signal controller (DSC) units have dropped significantly. As a matter of fact, control regarding to power electronics, such as converters, have been spread and control strategies other than proportional, integrative and derivative (PID) are becoming easier to embed. Within this context, this work aims to apply the well-known Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) to the speed loop of a three-phase (3 – ϕ) induction motor (IM). The machine is modeled from Clarke and Park transformations so any model-based controller may be devised, as the GPC controller. The equations are then written as a set of FIR filters, a simple view that turns implementation on-the-chip straightforward. Closed loop system may be easily translated from a block diagram to the implementation level, leaving the controller to be easily handled in the daily industrial routine.
