A Cost-Effective Internet of Things Based Smart Home System for Upcoming Technologies

Internet of Things (IoT) is an improvement of existing internet networking between different types of devices and electronic appliances. Great access to high-speed internet makes IoT easier. We can control and monitor electronic devices easily. This paper presents a cost-efficient smart home applying diversification usage and an increased number of multiple control systems. Compared to other existing schemes, our proposed system reduces extra costs, making it more affordable. This smart system can handle unlimited devices and can be operated from anywhere. The UI of our system is very user-friendly and everybody can access it smoothly. The microcontroller used is NodeMCU (ESP8266) which in case of implementation is cheaper than any other microcontroller on the market and therefore more effective to other devices. The microcontroller and application communications are developed via Wi-Fi (Internet).

I. Introduction

Smart Home means home appliance with a cloud-controlled electrical system. A smart home is a time- and money-saving. It will allow you to feel more relaxed with the ability to monitor the temp before you climb out of bed or protect your home even though you’re not in there. Essentially, a smart home will help make your house smarter, it’s the place where after a long boring day one choice or reasons to be. The System overview is shown in Fig. 1 below.
