Abstract:
Together with the increase in number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the necessity of developing solutions for detection and defense against such devices appeared. Several approaches have been proposed in this direction, using various technologies like acoustic sensors, optical sensors, radar. In this paper a survey of radio frequency (RF) based systems for detection and defense against UAVs is performed. Moreover, a novel RF solution based on software defined radio (SDR) platforms is proposed. The proposal includes both a GROUND system, capable of detecting and annihilating several UAVs and a FLYING system, having the advantage of being able to get closer to the target UAV and extend the area that can be secured.
