Implementation of a QPSK Symbol Synchronizer in Xilinx System Generator

Digital logic is created for a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) radio using Xilinx System Generator blocks in the Mathworks Simulink environment. Both the transmit and receive portions are implemented. This paper focuses on the symbol synchronization method found in the receiver. The Gardner algorithm is used along with interpolation filtering to create a synchronizer that operates on a single clock.
