PID with Clamping Anti-windup Performance on Temperature Regulation of Glycerin Bleaching Process

Proper regulation of temperature is inherently desired during the glycerin bleaching process since it contributed to the quality of bleach glycerin. However, the implementation of standalone PID is suffered from the windup phenomenon that caused the controller to produce high overshoot as well as require a long time to reach settling time. This can contribute to the degradation of the overall effectiveness of the glycerin bleaching process. Therefore, this paper presents the implementation of Clamping Anti-windup on PID controller (PIDCAW) for improving the performance of PID controller in temperature regulation of glycerin bleaching process. The simulation results show that the PIDCAW capable to prevent PID from the windup phenomenon whereas the step test simulation results indicated that PIDCAW provides 92.2% lower overshoot as compared with the PID controller. This indicated that the implementation of Clamping Anti-windup on PID controller will significantly improve the performance of PID controller particularly in providing lower overshoot and fast settling time along regulating the temperature of glycerin bleaching process thus can offer in increasing the effectiveness overall processes of the glycerin bleaching process.
