Simulation Study on Thickness Measurement Characteristics of Pipeline Axial Shear Wave based on EMAT

Electromagnetic ultrasonic thickness measurement is a non-contact measurement of pipe wall thickness by receiving ultrasonic signals generated by electromagnetic excitation coupling. By analyzing the working mechanism of electromagnetic ultrasonic, the simulation model of electromagnetic ultrasonic thickness measurement is constructed by using Comsol Multiphysics multi-physics simulation software. The static magnetic field distribution produced by permanent magnet and the distribution and main characteristics of magnetic field, electric field and sound field in the process of electromagnetic ultrasonic transducer energy conversion are analyzed. The propagation process of electromagnetic ultrasonic shear wave in pipeline non-planar specimens is studied. The simulation results show that the electromagnetic ultrasonic shear wave thickness measurement performance is excellent, and the measurement accuracy can reach 0.001 mm.
