Attenuation Coefficient of Tissue Based on Modified Depth-Resolved Model

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is currently widely used in the diagnosis of many diseases. The attenuation coefficient of biological tissues is an important parameter that affects the strength of OCT light signals and is also an important parameter to describe tissue characteristics. In this paper, the modified depth-resolved model is used to calculate the tissue attenuation coefficient based on OCT data. The methods of subtracting the noise term and median filtering were used to reduce the influence of noise on the attenuation coefficient estimation result. The estimation result is more accurate by adding a correction term of the confocal function. The result shows that the DR model by subtracting the noise term can characterize the hierarchical structure of the tissue better and make the attenuation coefficient more accurate. So, the description for the characteristics of biological tissues can be better and the foundation for evaluating the characteristics of lesions based on optical parameters can be laid.
