Coverage of Sub-Terahertz Communications and A 300-GHz-Band CMOS Transceiver

A 44 GHz frequency band from 252 GHz to 296 GHz has been identified for communications in WRC 2019. This frequency band will be the 300 GHz band, which is expected to provide transmission rates in excess of 100 Gb/s for 6G. In this paper, the requirements for ultra-wideband wireless communications in the sub-THz band, including the 300 GHz band, is discussed and present a 300 GHz CMOS wireless transceiver capable of transmitting data rates up to 80 Gb/s.
