An Explicit MPTC Method for Improving Dynamic Performance of SPM

In this paper, a novel explicit model predictive torque control (EMPTC) method is proposed to achieve optimal transient torque behavior of the surface mount permanent-magnet synchronous machine (SPM). The proposed method uses single-step prediction based on discrete model of the SPM drive. The transient-state duration is estimated, and the proposed EMPTC method is implemented during the transient state. A space voltage vector with an optimal phase then is applied to the motor using space vector modulation (SVM). Comparative investigation of the proposed strategy with deadbeat method were carried out. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method can achieve faster dynamic response while maintaining the same level of calculation amount.
