Harmonic mitigation and resonance damping of MMC-SAPF with low switching frequency

The shunt power capacitor will cause parallel resonance in the medium voltage (MV) power distribution system with nonlinear load. MMC-SAPF with low switching frequency is applied to handle this problem. Firstly, topology and control of device including modulation strategy is studied. Then, the parallel resonance mechanism in the MV power distribution system is analyzed. And then harmonic mitigation and resonance damping of MMC-SAPF is investigated. Finally, a large number of experimental results are tested to prove the utility of control strategy.
