A Compact Millimeter Wave 5G Patch Antenna for n-260 Band Frequency Range Applications

This paper examines expected results to develop a versatile, compact, economically feasible, and precisely highly accurate millimeter-wave 5G antenna for applications over the n-260 band frequency range. The n-260 band ranges from 37 GHz to 40 GHz of frequency. The antenna presented in this paper achieves the -10 dB bandwidth from 34.8 GHz to 40 GHz which comes out the total range of 5.2 GHz and it covers the whole n-260 frequency band. Features of the antenna are 5mm×8mm×0.8mm. The proposed design uses an inverse pyramidal structure which is made using twelve annular slots and positioned on the upper patch to control the effective tradeoff between gain and bandwidth. The patch is designed on the surface dielectric namely FR4 epoxy. The upper patch and the ground plane of the antenna are fabricated by using copper. The ground plane of the proposed antenna is made limited to obtain a wide range of bandwidth. The antenna acquires a reflection coefficient of 21.67 dB at an operating resonating frequency of 35.9 GHz. The suggested antenna acquires a peak gain of 2.87 dBi at the frequency of 36.8 GHz. It further achieves an overall gain of 2.35 dBi at its resonating frequency. The radiation effects of the proposed design arrive to be 79.5% at 35.9 GHz. The innovative slot arrangements proposed in the antenna permit high coordination with portable 5G antenna applications in the n-260 frequency band.
