Control Algorithm For Bidirectional Converters In The PV Power Supply System With Intelligent PV Modules

Application of photovoltaic (PV) modules with integrated DC-DC converters (smart PV modules) in small-scale grid connected power supply systems makes it possible to increase the amount of energy generated by the PV modules. It is possible due to simultaneous operation of all the PV modules in the maximum power point (MPP). However, simultaneous operation of the all the modules in the MPP can cause surge voltages on the elements of the integrated DC-DC converters in the case of nonuniform insolation of a series-connected smart PV modules.This paper provides a solution for the efficiency enhancement of series-connected smart PV modules. Paper also considered control algorithm for the voltage regulation of the module integrated DC-DC converters under non-uniform insolation of the PV modules. MATLAB models of the control system and simulation results presented in this paper.
