A New Method for Measuring Calibration Factors of Microwave Power Transfer Standard

Power is the fundamental parameter among the radio frequency metrology key parameters, which provides the traceability to many parameters. To ensure the preciseness of power measurement, accurate expression and analysis of calibration factor is indispensable. In conventional method, calibration factor of power sensor and adapter combination is based on efficiency equation. Measurement uncertainty is relatively large due to network analyzer's uncertainty. In this paper, we propose a novel approach calculating calibration factor of combination, based on transmission line's loss factor. Measurement uncertainty is expected to decrease from 3% to 2%, with novel approach applied. Calculation method is proved by calibration experiment of 7mm power transfer standard. Difference of calibration factor between calculation and experiment is reduced by 75%, indicating a dramatical decrease of measurement uncertainty.
