Analysis of Asymmetric Modulating Pulse on SSB-TMA

In most researches about time-modulated array (TMA), modulating pulses are usually considered as the rectangular, symmetric trapezoidal or triangular waveform. Due to the nonideal characteristics of RF switches and circuits, the shape of modulated pulse is usually asymmetric. This paper analyzes the influence of the asymmetry of trapezoid and TDRC waveforms on SSB-TMA in detail, and compares the amplitude, phase, energy ratio and relative SBL of the harmonics. The results show that the asymmetry of the trapezoid and TDRC waveforms will affect the amplitude and phase of the +1st harmonics, and also will worsen the −3rd harmonics.
