Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna for Biomedical Application Using ISM Band

In this study, a microstrip patch antenna has been designed to detect cancer tumors which operates at the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band at 2.475 GHz. The antenna is a rectangular-shaped microstrip patch antenna that can be worn on the body and has a dimension of 75.16 × 58.34 × 1.56 mm

. Because of its small scale, it is ideal for on-body appliances. The antenna’s dielectric layer is FR-4 lossy with a width of 1.5 mm, and the metallic patch and ground are copper, with each having a width of 0.03 mm. This antenna is designed and is simulated using the Microwave Studio CST software tool. The simulation results have been measured both for off-body and on-body, the return loss is -58.20dB and -25.43dB, and the measured efficiencies are 64.49% and 56.81%, respectively.
