Real-time Simulation of Wave Roll Based on Shallow Wave Equation

Simulation of curved waves is a difficult task in computer graphics. A modeling method for curved wave is proposed, which considers the rendering efficiency and authenticity. Simulation of curved wave is divided into basic ocean surface simulation and curved surface simulation. Firstly, The Navier-Stokes equation is simplified to a two-dimensional shallow water wave equation, and the basic ocean surface model is obtained by solving the shallow water wave equation. Then, the wave crest is found and the surf surface is connected with the basic sea surface. Finally, particle system is introduced to create the effect of spray breakage, and real-time realistic curved wave ocean scene is generated. The rendering speed on ordinary computer reaches 52 fps, which meets real-time requirements.
