Knowledge Management Awareness and Application in Waqf Institutions: The Perception of Waqf Employees in Algeria

The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of awareness and perception of the importance of knowledge management among employees in the waqf sector in Algeria. In addition to investigating the extent to which knowledge management is applied in Algerian waqf institutions. A total of 193 out of 485 distributed questionnaires were returned and considered for analysis. Cluster technique based on geographical distribution was applied in order to select employees from both gender, male and female. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a set of descriptive analyses were conducted using SPSS. The results of the study showed a positive level of awareness of the importance of knowledge management at the organizational level. However, the results showed a modest level of accreditation and application of knowledge management practices at the Algerian waqf institutions. This study provides several important implications to policy makers and waqf institutions, as it highlights on the consideration of knowledge management in their operations. This study is an extension of research on knowledge management, highlighting its importance and its effective role in enhancing the organizational performance of institutions. To the best of author’s knowledge, this study is the first to address the issue of knowledge management importance in the context of waqf institutions in Algeria.
