T-Shaped Competence Management Framework

With challenging market situation and increased stress on R&D Costs, it becomes critical for any organization to focus on upskilling their workforce to meet current and future Business Needs. Natural progression here would mean, need for workforce to constantly upskill and endure iterations of learn-unlearn-relearn. However, this journey is influenced by several factors like Product complexity, Availability of talent pool, Competence Ramp-up, and Organization’s footprint strategy. In this publication, a quantitative method is proposed to identify priority Training Needs based on Business Strategy, and define clear boundaries for Employee Evaluation, Defining Individual Development Plan & analyzing Data Aggregation for continuous improvement. This methodology was piloted successfully within one of our R&D locations, for multiple T-Models. Successful pilot has encouraged our Global Stakeholders to adapt this method within our business-unit.
