Beyond a Green Solution – Enhancement of Power Network with Natural Ester Insulating Fluid

With continuous rising demand on power consumption and increasing needs for integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) due to the deployment of renewable energy, it is becoming more pressing for utility companies and distribution system operators (DSOs) to enhance the loading capability of their power network. Based on various research and case studies, this paper describes and validates the use of natural ester insulating fluid in transformers as an all-rounded solution to improve the performance and also the cost effectiveness of power network beyond its original design as an environmentally `green' less-flammable fluid.
