Communication-Aware Power Control of Virtual Power Plants: A Robust Cross-Level Approach

In this paper, a cross-level distributed robust control is proposed for autonomous power sharing of a virtual power plant (VPP). The proposed robust control employs a distributed communication manner to achieve information transmission among DERs, where the unexpected time-varying delay and state-dependent noise interferences inevitably are introduced to the distributed cooperative control of power sharing for practical VPP systems. Finally, the stability and quality of whole system will be terribly reduced. Currently, there is no available approach that can solve the autonomous power sharing control problem for a VPP in the presence of such unexpected time-varying delay and noise interferences. Thus, this paper designs a cross-level distributed robust control method to achieve autonomous proportional power sharing of VPP system in mean square linear χ-consensus. Moreover, a sufficient upper delays bound subject to state-dependent noise disturbances is given for guidance of actual control system by Lyapunov technique and the stochastic differential equation theory. Simulation results present that the designed cross-level robust control is effectiveness and robustness for the unexpected time-varying delay and noise interferences by a tested VPP system in the MATLAB/Simulink.
