SOLSR: Secure OLSR with denial contradiction rules to detect and prevent gray hole attack in VANET

A vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a group of moving or stationary vehicles connected by a wireless network. The main purpose of VANET is to provide safety and comfort to drivers in vehicular environments. It also consists of many security threats and different types of attacks, especially gray hole attacks. This paper focuses on the detection and prevention of gray hole attacks in VANET. We proposed an algorithm named SOLSR with Denial Contradiction Rules to detect and prevent gray hole attacks. The denial contradiction rules isolate the malicious nodes and SOLSR algorithm detects and removes the malicious nodes that enter the network legitimately. The experiment result shows that the proposed solution detects and prevents the gray hole attack and improves the network’s performance.
