Optimal Shape Refurbishment of Distorted Dome Structure with Safeguarding of Member Stress

Hinged double layer dome structures are specified as picturesque constructions, and they provide large free column space. Due to their many unsupported joints and unexpected loads, the nodes are suspected of getting displaced in their original locations. The dislocation of the joints causes shape distortion of the structure. In order to keep the structure's attractiveness, at least the outer face of the structure needs to be reshaped. In this paper, a theoretical model of a double layer dome is vertically loaded to get noticeable displacements that cause shape distortion. The surface of the structure is reshaped, and the stress in the members is restricted to the desired limit, while the number of actuators and the amount of actuation is minimized.
