A Component-Based Technological Learning for Solar Photovoltaic Power Technology

As we know, the wide utilization of learning curve (or experience curve) in renewable technological learning has currently attracted remarkable interest in industry and academic community. Among various formulations of learning curve, a component-based solution has emerged for complex energy technology, especially for renewables with lack of comprehensive and available learning experience due to the technology still on the track of rapid development. However, sufficient research related to this issue has not yet been carried out and needs to gain greater focus. With regard to this, this paper exploits the standpoint of component-based learning and constructs the learning curve model of solar photovoltaic power technology based on the historical data of PERC and lithium-ion battery. Such an approach allows for not only cost projection for the future at the overall technology level, but also the top-down analysis of cost evolution at individual technological component level.
