Justification of the Required Tactical and Technical Characteristics of Air Space Survey Radars to Ensure Timely Detection of Small Aircraft

The required tactical and technical characteristics of radar stations used for air space control are considered. The main source of danger for mainline aircraft is small-sized aircraft. Such aircraft, according to their flight performance characteristics, are capable of flying over a long distance in the entire range of altitudes at which the manned mainline aircraft may be located at the end or beginning of the flight. The article attempts to present, on the basis of the existing regulatory framework and flight characteristics of small-sized aircraft, the necessary technical characteristics, in which the detection of infringing aircraft will be provided with a probability of at least 0.5-0.99.
