Notes on small suction gas plants

(Member): I must confess I am considerably disappointed in the results of Mr. Newsham's paper on small suction gas plants, The author confined himself to the description of one make of engine, and one make of two types of gas producers, with the result that the field for discussion has been considerably curtailed. The subject, however, is worthy of a great deal of thought by our members. The days of steam coal are numbered, and the writing on the wall clearly indicates that the world is beginning to realise that the wasteful methods of using its coal resources must be abandoned.
