Design of Electrochemical Reactor for Manufacturing Aluminum Oxide Nanoporous Membrane

Aluminum oxide nanoporous membranes are attractive in different fields and could be used for a variety of purposes. To produce nanomembrane with controlled pore areas, it is important to design an electrochemical reactor. During anodization, temperature is one of the most significant parameters. Accordingly, it is important to ensure a uniform mixing process to maintain a constant temperature throughout the anodization process in reactor. In this work, six different impellers were designed for the mixing process of an electrochemical reactor with a vibrating functional element. Simulations of the mixing process with different impellers in a novel reactor were performed. Results showed that the design of the impeller influences the mixing process because the flow velocity is highly dependent on impeller geometry. The observed results will be useful for further development of novel electrochemical reactor with vibrating functional element for manufacturing aluminum oxide nanoporous membranes in the future.
