Experimental Study on Surface Temperature Measurement of IGBT Module

Over junction temperature of IGBT is fatal to the reliability and service life of the converter due to its aging failure. To compare the measurement of spatial temperature distribution of IGBT module, three methods are applied to measure the surface temperature of IGBT. One fiber bragg grating (FBG) and three thermocouples are glued on the surface of IGBT module, and a infrared thermal imager is set to face this whole surface. The experimental results show that the temperature obtained by three approaches are consistent. This provides an experimental basis for the accuracy of junction temperature in the encapsulated IGBT module.
