A New Approach to Evaluating Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving for Overhead Power Transmission Lines

This paper is devoted to a new approach to evaluating energy efficiency and energy saving for overhead power transmission lines. In this study, to solve the described problems, a new approach is proposed, based on additional accounting for losses in power lines pylons and a new adapted method for calculating annual electric power losses, taking into account the induction currents in the supports. The paper presents the results of experimental studies of induction currents and heating in overhead power lines pylons. Using the heat balance equation, the problems of finding the limiting values of the power of induction currents and the heating temperature of the unit parts are solved by a graphical method. The calculation of the annual electric power losses of this type for one line of the voltage class 500 kV are presented showing a percentage between a normative value.
