Design and Implement a High Voltage Low Power Supply with Wide-bandgap Device Applied for Electric Vehicles Applications

The rapid growth in electric vehicle technology gave massive attention to power electronic devices. Therefore, there is a need for an electronic device that can transfer electrical power efficiently from one voltage step to another to energize automotive applications. A DC-DC converter is required between the source and the delivery. Here, the paper presents a proposed DC-DC converter design that is utilized to provide a low power high voltage supply for applications in FCEV. A piece of test equipment requires a low current (0.25A), high voltage (200V) supply to be generated from a 24V battery source. Typical solutions employ a flyback converter with transformer coupling that achieved high voltage levels. Technically using (WBG) wide-bandgap - based switching device is the most approach for FCEVs applications. SiC MOSFET of high voltage 10 - 15 kV which is the best choice for high voltage applications. This research uses Psim software to simulate a flyback converter with high voltage as the output and low power 50W (less than 100W). Many tests have been done to maximize efficiency over the full range of operating conditions.
