Speech Recognition for Indian spoken languages towards Automated Home appliances

Home automation has been an interesting area of research that focuses on developing novel procedures and systems that brings technology into the hands of common people. Hands-free operational environments are becoming increasingly needful for physically challenged people. Specifically, the speech processing domain is significantly contributing to this specialized area where speech interfaces are built for operating different devices. The building of such systems introduces new challenges when systems are targeted towards low-resource languages. Even though there is an actual need in such languages, advancements in these languages are comparatively low. India is a country with diverse cultures with various spoken languages. It is really challenging to make spoken dialog systems for Indian languages since the availability of speech corpus is less. In this paper, we propose a speech recognition system for two spoken languages and implemented it for a home automation system.
