Fluctuating Power Decoupling By using Symmetrical Half Bridge Circuit in Single Phase Systems

To convert DC voltages from one value to another value, DC to DC converters are used. Two such DC to DC converters are mainly available. Buck converter and boost converter. There are, furthermore, many techniques, such as mechanical, linear, capacitive, magnetic and switched mode, for these converters. In DC to DC converters, semiconductor switching components are necessary if a shift in the DC value from one level to another is required. The switches for power conversion are commonly considered as switch mode power supply (SMPS). It is expected that the DC to DC converters will work at high performance. However, due to the switching operations, a considerable amount of energy is lost and also a few harmonics which are multiples of fundamental switching frequency are added into the system. This causes pulsating nature in output DC. This pulsating DC causes power fluctuations in the load. Active power filtering method is presented in this paper for decoupling of such fluctuating power. MATLAB simulation results of filtered and post filtering along with harmonics profile are presented in this paper.
