Joint Jamming Beam and Power Scheduling for Suppressing Netted Radar System

This paper considers the jamming resource allocation strategy when a jammer is used to protect its accompanying flights by suppressing the netted radar system (NRS). The NRS adopts a K-N fusion criterion to detect and search the targets in its surveillance area. The mission of the jammer is to protect its accompanying flights by lowering the chances that they are detected by the NRS. The jammer is assumed to be able to simultaneously generate multiple jamming beams with controllable power and assign them to some radar nodes of the NRS. For this problem, we propose a joint jamming beam selection and power allocation (JJBSPA) strategy. The basic idea of the JJBSPA is to optimally schedule limited jamming resources, including the beams and transmitting jamming power, in real-time to maximize the jamming performance. The probability of detection (Pd) of the accompanying flights, protected by the jammer against the NRS, is derived and utilized as the metric of jamming performance. Then, an objective function is designed based on this Pd metric to quantify the global jamming performance while considering the different Pd requirements for the accompanying flights. By minimizing the objective function and combining the function with the jamming resource constraints, the JJBSPA is formulated as an optimization problem. As the formulated JJBSPA problem is non-convex, we propose a two-step solution based on particle swarm optimization (PSO). Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed JJBSPA strategy.
